One of the first things you need to do when you arrive in Jersey is register at the Customer and Local Services department. You’ll be given a Social Security number and a registration card confirming your residential status. Your details will also be shared with the following departments:

Population Office
Revenue Jersey
Health and Social Services Department
If you’re moving over with school age children, Customer and Local Services will also let the Education Department know you're in the island. This is to safeguard children and make sure they're in school, which is required by law.
Every person age 16 and over must register themselves. You can’t register for someone on their behalf except for dependent children under 16.
You need to apply online for a registration card, you must have the following documents below prior to applying:
a copy of your passport or ID card issued by a Government body
a copy of your Immigration permission to both live and work in Jersey if you are not British or Irish (e.g. Work permit & visa, Settled or Pre-settled status, Indefinite leave to remain, spouse/partner visa, work permit dependent visa, UK Ancestry visa, EEA family permit). If you are an EU/EEA/Swiss national who has applied to the EU Settlement scheme but not yet received your certificate, attach evidence to confirm you have submitted an application. This should be from a UK or Jersey Immigration department
if you have children who are not registered, a copy of their birth certificate or passport
if you are married, a copy of your marriage certificate
how much you will be earning
copy of your licence permission which was provided by your employer
you will also be asked to make payment online
Apply to register as a Jersey Resident

We’ll ask you a number of questions, including:
your personal details including your address
any details about your spouse or civil partner and children (if applicable)
your date of first arrival
your employer's name (if you've found work)
what your salary and any other income will be (for tax purposes)
A registration card costs £80 and you will need to pay for this online before the process is completed.
You'll need to show this card, along with photo ID, to your:
employer
landlord (if you're renting a property)
lawyer (if you're buying a property)
You register for tax at the same time as you register for social security and get your registration card.
If you’re employed, you’ll receive an income tax instalment scheme (ITIS) rate by post from Revenue Jersey. This is the percentage of your income that you will be deducted each time you’re paid.
If you’re still looking for work when you register, you’ll need to tell Revenue Jersey when you know how much you're going to be paid. You will then be sent your ITIS rate.
Self-employed people and traders tax information
Information you provide about yourself when registering as a new resident, or at a later stage, such as your name, date of birth and your address, will be securely shared with other Government of Jersey departments, so that we can improve the services we provide for you.
We'll only share your information as required to provide, or in preparation to provide, you with our services.
Your information may also be used for statistical purposes to support planning for our services. In this case, all information capable of identifying you will be removed from the data before it's shared.
