There are several Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown but Viet Food is the best and most vibrant. Spread over three floors with its own cocktail bar, it serves traditional Vietnamese dishes such as prawn summer rolls, pho and bún (crispy vermicelli noodles served dry with delicious toppings). Chef and owner Jeff Tan, formely of Hakkasan, has also created some impressive fusion dishes. Try the crispy coconut calamari as a starter, which comes with a homemade sweet-chilli herb sauce. For the main, try the braised freshwater prawns with glass vermicelli and grilled black Angus rib-eye beef, each of which brings a Western zing to the oriental palate. Unlike most of its peers, which use Sriracha, Viet Food makes its own red and green chilli sauces for the table.
